Developed in a series that explores narratives within life, death and its symbiotic relationship, “It’s a Slow Ride” acknowledges the inevitable reality that is death. The skull, symbolic of death, is adorned by written word that places an emphasis of living slow, avoiding vice and enjoying life for how it is. This painting is 1 of 4 paintings created in honor of Dia de los Muertos, a Mexican holiday that celebrates life and the rejoining of spirits.
